Volunteer council

The Volunteer Council represents all volunteers of Dynamo. The members of the council are volunteers themselves and are familiar with the organisation. They advocate for the interests of volunteers and serve as a ’tester’ within the organisation. The council regularly visits locations to engage in discussions with volunteers. Questions or concerns are collected and discussed to the management meetings. Solutions and measures are then communicated back to the volunteers. Additionally, the Volunteer Council closely monitors Dynamo’s volunteer policy and ensures that agreements are being upheld.

Makkie

As a volunteer at Dynamo you’re doing something right for the neighbourhood and you gain a small bonus. Each voluntary hour you work, you gain a ‘makkie’. ‘Makkie’ is the local coin of Amsterdam Oost. With the ‘makkies’ you earned you can pay or get a discount. There are several deals with local restaurants/pubs, shops, settlements and cultural institutions. Check the website how and where you can spend your ‘makkies’. In this way you help your neighbourhood, neighbours and yourself!

GO Social MAKE Impact

Volunteer workers don’t do charity work solely for themselves. Of course, it’s rewarding to learn something new and meet new people, but the main reason most people volunteer is to help others. Through volunteering, you can bring joy to someone else while gaining work experience in a specific field or expertise.

Throughout your life, you acquire a wealth of knowledge and experience. You know what your talents are and want to utilize them to the fullest. That’s where Dynamo comes in! Because we believe in inclusivity, we want everyone to participate in society, regardless of age or background. By leveraging your knowledge and experience, you can contribute to making our society more livable and beautiful.

Benefits of doing volunteer work at Dynamo

Helping someone else

Volunteering is not just for yourself. You learn a lot that benefits you personally, but at the same time, you can also bring joy to someone else. For example, by organizing sports activities for children, taking the elderly to the museum, market, or forest or by teaching computer lessons.

Gaining work experience

Voluntary work is a great way to gain work experience, especially if you don’t have enough experience for a regular job in that field. If you have a few hours per week available and you want to fill them with something that can benefit your career, volunteering is an excellent option.

Training and courses

When necessary for the job, Dynamo offers volunteer training and courses to ensure that you can perform your work to the best of your abilities. This way, you can learn during your volunteer work. As volunteer in Amsterdam you can also participate in the training sessions, workshops, and lectures offered by the Volunteer Academy.

Certificate

Every volunteer receives a certificate when they stop volunteering. This certificate states exactly what you have done at Dynamo and for how long you have done it. You can show this certificate to employers or other organizations that are looking for volunteers. It serves as proof of your experience and dedication as a volunteer.

Volunteer council

In the volunteer council, volunteers have the opportunity to outspeak their opinions on matters such as Dynamo’s policies, the position of volunteers, and daily operations. The volunteer council meets four times a year and also holds four meetings per year with the director of Dynamo. The coordinator of volunteer engagement can connect you with the volunteer council.
